Combined families
Having combined families can make it a little harder to reach an agreement about the visitation schedule.
During mediation, we can discuss:
- what the stable factors were in the children’s lives (home, primary caregiver, residence, roommates, daily routine, etc.)
- what circumstances have changes since the divorce
- how the children have responded to the changes
- what are currently the stable factors?
- what circumstances might change in the near future?
- should work/school/visitation schedules of others be taken into account?
When the families do not live nearby, it can be relevant to discuss the costs of traveling with regards to the visitation.
The visitation schedule can be part of the (international) parenting plan.
If you and your children are living together with your new partner and his/her children, it can be worth wile taking advice from a steph family coach.
