Child alimony:
Change of circumstances
A change in circumstances may justify a change in child maintenance. What has changed recently? And what will change in the future?
For instance:
- the child has higher medical costs or school related costs
- the income of one of the parent has decreased
- a sibling was born, the cost of which must also be borne
- one of the parents enters a new marriage.
During mediation we can discuss:
- When was the child alimony determined (by the parents or by the court)?
- What has changed since then?
- Was that change necessary?
- Will things be stable from now on?
- What will most likely change in the (near) future?
- How does that effect the needs of the child/ the ability to pay?
The amount of child alimony also changes due to the yearley indexation. You can read about this on the Dutch Government website.
