Let’s talk about how the needs of the child can be met, after the seperation.
During mediation we can discuss:
- What were the needs during the marriage?
- Were there any special needs (expensive day care, medical costs, expensive education, costs due to special talents)?
- Are the needs the same after the separation?
- Does the care arrangement change their needs?
- Should the care arrangement be changed in order to lessen their needs?
- Can these needs be met with a less expensive solution?
The needs can be calculated based on income figures and the age of the child. There are also a lot of standard amounts for all kinds of needs and costs. But it can be better to look at each case seperately and look for a costum made solution.
The costs of traveling in case of an international visitation arrangement should be taken into consideration when determining the child alimony.
