Visitation:
Costs of traveling
With international careers and international marriages, and parents not living nearby, the costs related to traveling are a relevant factor to discuss when you are talking about visitation schedules.
During mediation we can discuss:
- What were the family’s travel expenses during the marriage?
- What is causing the current travel expenses?
- Who is/are able to bear these costs?
- Was travel expenses taken into account when determining the amount of child support?
- What can both parents do to minimize costs?
- If one parent can contribute less to these costs, can he/she compensate, for example by taking on more travel time?
These costs related to visitation can also be covered in an (international) parenting plan.
Traveling long distance with a child can be stressful. Fortunately there are parening website that give excellent advice, such as Momondo.com.
