Visitation:

Costs of traveling

With international careers and international marriages, and parents not living nearby, the costs related to traveling are a relevant factor to discuss when you are talking about visitation schedules.

During mediation we can discuss:

  • What were the family’s travel expenses during the marriage?
  • What is causing the current travel expenses?
  • Who is/are able to bear these costs?
  • Was travel expenses taken into account when determining the amount of child support?
  • What can both parents do to minimize costs?
  • If one parent can contribute less to these costs, can he/she compensate, for example by taking on more travel time?

These costs related to visitation can also be covered in an (international) parenting plan.

Traveling long distance with a child can be stressful. Fortunately there are parening website that give excellent advice, such as Momondo.com.
